Snowy Plains, comprising much of the catchments of the Gungarlin and Bulls Peaks Rivers is an extensive salient of private land extending into the middle of the Kosciuszko National Park approximately half way between Kiandra and Guthega. It offers superb sub-alpine scenery and often rewards skiers with good nordic skiing opportunities, though this past winter was not forthcoming. Part of its charm is its remoteness which is reinforced by its 4WD access limitation. So the proposed trip, staying or camping at one of the private lodges in the area (Snowy Vale) will be limited by the number of seats available in 4WDs registering for the trip. There will be limited bunks available in the lodge on a first registered / first served basis. The lodge offers full household facilities and the surrounds offer good car camping.

Early December is the prime time for the sub-alpine wildflowers to be in bloom and to enjoy spring coming to the mountains – warm days and cold nights. People can explore the country around Cesjacks Hut in the park and out towards the Bulls Peaks or Jagungal or wander up the delightful Bulls Peaks river towards the privately owned Flanagans Hut.

Will head out from Charlotte Pass and camp overnight near Snowy Bridge, below Seaman’s Hut, which provides a good base to explore the surrounding area. Mostly flat terrain in to the campsite along the Summit Road. After camp is set up possible destinations to explore on foot could include Mt Kosciuszko, Etheridge Ridge or Lake Albina. Rescheduled from mid October due to the weather forecast.

From the crossing of the Snowy River, head up to Carruther’s Peak. May also go to Mt Twynam and Blue Lake.

If there’s snow, along towards Illawong and the suspension bridge from Guthega carpark.

2023 Annual General Meeting. Discuss where the Club has been and where it will go.

We’ll start from wherever there’s enough snow, now the summit road is cleared to Spencer’s Creek.

We have a long-standing CCCSC member and XC instructor leading tours from Guthega every day during the period 4 to 16 September. Ring the ASC Guthega Lodge the day before if you are interested.

A 4-5 day ski trip using Tin Hut and/or Mawson Hut as a base for tours.  Would be in late August or early September.

Hopefully some new snowfalls later this week to help soften the snow cover. Will start from Guthega Power Station and climb the zig-zags then ski along the aqueduct track south towards Guthega or north towards Horse Camp Hut, depending on the snow. May stay at Kalkite the night before to ensure an early start.

The tour will now start from Perisher, not Dainers Gap. Will meet at the Nordic Shelter and head out to wherever the snow is best, preferably around Rock Creek and towards The Porcupine, otherwise on the trails.

Ski from the Nordic Shelter via the “back route”, poles near Rock Creek to Porcupine Rocks and on to the Trapyard Creek/Johnnies Plain/Spencers Creek area. Return along the Perisher-Charlotte Pass Road, although we might vary from that a little depending on the group’s progress.

Tour will start at the lower carpark at Dead Horse Gap beside the Thredbo River. We will ski along the first part of Cascades Trail and then on towards Boggy Plain. Distance covered will depend on how the group progresses – the aim will be to have a relatively leisurely pace; nonetheless, if progress is good, we might get to Teddy’s Hut.

A brief outline of the winter sport of Biathlon and it’s history in the Australian Defence Force

Will ski from Perisher and head towards Spencers Creek via the lower slopes of The Paralyser before continuing to the top of the Sugarloaf then to Johnnies Plain before the returning to Perisher.

Starting in Perisher, we will ski up Rock Creek and clamber up the Porcupine Rocks. Depending on time and skills, we will return either via Rock Creek or the Kosciuszko Road.

The Club will run a skill building session on the Sunday morning from 9am followed by tours around the Perisher Trails from 12.30 to 2.30pm. Meet at the Perisher Cross Country Ski Centre for these activities.

Following the Come-and-Try lesson on Saturday 22 July, we will have some beginner and intermediate ski tours around the Perisher XC trails from 12:30pm to 3pm to suit the skill levels of the participants. Meet at the Perisher Cross Country Ski Centre by 12:30pm.

The lessons are open to everyone. See lessons page. Cost per person is $25. Registration on Snow Australia website. Purchase a BBQ lunch and tour of the trails in the afternoon. Please arrive by 8.30 am to be graded into groups.

A kaleidoscope of skiing experiences in NSW and Victoria and beyond

Depending on the snow cover/weather/aptitude of the party the following tour options may open up:
Gooandra Hut via Wild Horse Plain – largely open flat country with a short descent to the Tantangara Plain;
Gavells Hut via Gang Gang Mt – relatively short trip from the high point on the Tantangara road with a descent thru country burnt in the 2019 fires to Nungar Plain and return; or
Selwyn to Kiandra loop – a straight forward loop in open country with a descent down Crack Hardy spur to the township? and a car shuffle at the end.

A tour starting at the Mt Selwyn Resort, and heading either along the Kings Cross Road or across the plateau to the east of the resort where there are great views of the northern end of the park.

Skiing in Canada

Will head to Kiandra or Mt Selwyn and aim to ski somewhere in this area, where ever the snow conditions are best. An opportunity to avoid the crowds at Perisher.

Perisher XC Working Bee – 6-7 May 2023

Snow Australia is organising a Come and Try Rollerskiing session, open to newcomers of all levels from juniors through to adults.
Rollerskiing uses short skis with a wheel at either end, and the same boots and bindings used for cross country skiing on snow.

We will leave from the Tooma Dam and follow the fire trail into the upper Tooma River on Pretty plain to put in a base camp. On the middle day people can either visit the nearby Wheelers hut – a slab classic, or walk up the valley to the rebuilt Pretty Plain hut. Some might prefer to spend the day fishing the Tooma River for the legendary trout. Currently planning to do this trip during Easter, on the best three days.

Will drive to the Geehi Flats camping ground to set up the tents for an overnight stay. Will spend the Sat afternoon and Sun morning doing easy walks to the nearby huts (Geehi, Old Geehi, Keebles, Doctors and Doctor Forbes huts). Some river crossings involved.

Will start at Charlotte Pass and follow the walking track past Blue Lake out to The Sentinel to set up camp. There is a great sheltered campsite and amazing views of the steep western side of the Main Range.

The aim of this trip is to experience the high altitude wildflowers at their peak along with spectacular views down Siren Song Creek and across to Watson’s Crags.  The trip will leave from Guthega and aim to put in a high camp on water at the most advantageous spot. The preferred time for this walk is during late January.

From Thredbo, we will walk and ski up to Mt Kosciuszko. Probably ski back via the South Ridge and Cootapatamba basin. Catch the chairlift down.

We’ll take the chairlift up from Thredbo and ski over the Rams Heads Range, including to the Rams Head itself (2190m). We’ll camp in the Leather Barrel Creek / Peak 1977 area. Another day will be spent exploring the areas southwest of Mt Kosciuszko. The tempo will be “mellow” but participants should have intermediate-level skills, given the terrain. Dates to be confirmed, and could vary depending on weather conditions; and an optional extra day could be added if that suited participants

Still plenty of snow on the Main Range.  Will start at Charlotte Pass, cross the Snowy River then head up towards Blue Lake and beyond. 

From Charlotte’s Pass, cross the Snowy River and head up the valley towards Club Lake.  If the weather allows we may head higher, otherwise we will ramble around the valley, enjoying the ice bergs and hut ruins.

From Charlotte’s Pass, head towards Mt Stilwell. Maybe bag the summit. Continue along Kangaroo Ridge. If we are fast enough we can reach Snowy Bridge or even Seaman’s Hut.

From Charlotte’s Pass, via Foreman’s Crossing, we will go up Carruther’s before heading over to Mt Lee, Northcote Pass, Moraine Pass and finish the funnest part by going down Mt Clarke. Return back over Foreman’s Crossing to Charlotte’s Pass.

The October lodge weekend will be held at Pygmy Possum lodge at Charlotte Pass from Friday 14 – Sunday 16 October. 
This is always a popular weekend, with Club ski tours held around Charlotte Pass or on the Main Range on the Saturday and Sunday. At present there is a deep cover of snow on the Main Range, so there should be good skiing during October.  People will need to bring along food, linen and towels for the weekend.
Bookings should be made directly through the Pygmy Possum lodge booking page through the link on the Members Page. The cost is $84 per person per night for adults and $38 per night for a child.

We’ll access the Main Range using the chair from Thredbo to ski and set up a snow camp at Wilkinson’s Valley for two nights. We’ll do a day trip from there (eg to Mt Townsend). We’ll leave Canberra very early on Saturday morning to meet up at the Thredbo overnight car park at 8:30am packed and ready to go. This trip is suitable for skiers with intermediate skills and suitable snow camping equipment.
We’ll be monitoring the weather forecasts and will confirm the trip is going ahead (Thursday night/Friday morning). If the trip can’t proceed due to weather we’ll aim to reschedule.

A mid-week day tour to take advantage of the new snow falls. Will start from Dead Horse Gap. Possible destinations could include the Brindle Bull and Paddy Rushes Bogong, or Teddys Hut or Bob’s Ridge.

Matthew Brookhouse will talk about eucalypt dieback in the Australian Alps.

A 3-day, base camp trip for intermediate level skiers. The destination will depend on snow and weather conditions, possibly near White’s River hut with trips onto Dicky Cooper Bogong, or using a Guthega Creek base with trips up Mt Tate or Twynham.

Cover some countryside on the Main Range in spring and practice downhill technique on slopes along the way. Heading out from Jindabyne or Kalkite each day. Because it will be late in the season, what we do will be dependent on where the snow is as well as weather conditions.

Will start from Guthega and head up the Snowy River valley to Illawong Lodge, before continuing to Spencers Creek and across the new suspension bridge to explore the slopes of Mt Guthrie.

Having moved to Tasmania in early-2021, Robin Collins will speak about exploring the island, particularly the North-West, from the perspective of a new resident.

Beginning from Dead Horse Gap, ski up through the forest towards the Ramshead, bagging rocky knolls along the way.  Depending on fitness and skills of the group, we may head to Kosi South Face or Leatherbarrel Creek.

This tour is for those travelling down to Victoria for the Kangaroo Hoppet. We are still leaving the final destination and date flexible depending on the weather and snow conditions.

Linda Berryman from AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) will talk about search and rescue and the latest developments involving distress beacons.

Along the Thredbo River upstream of Cascades Trail carpark, towards Teddy’s Hut and views of the Chimneys. We may get as far as Teddy’s and we may take a small diversion part-way up the Brindle Bull.

A grand adventure! Ski out to Illawong hut in the afternoon, set up camp, and then up to Mt Twynham for sunset. Ski the Main Range to Kosi, and back to the tents in the wee hours. Only in good conditions.

Here is a tour with a difference! The tour will start, weather permitting, at 6.30 pm from the Nordic Shelter and go around the 5 km loop. A head lamp is essential, and of course people should dress for the weather, and expect the trails to be frost hardened.

Ski from Perisher to Charlotte’s Pass to cheer on those participating in the Charlotte’s Pass Open. We will ski up the road to CP and if conditions allow, return via Johnny’s Plain/Bett’s creek/Porcupine trail back to the carpark.

A ski tour in the Kiandra area in the northern end of the park, away from the crowds. The preference is to ski in the Gooandra area (unburnt country) with a fallback to Selwyn. Meeting at Adaminaby bakery at 8.45am.

Will start at Guthega Power Station and ski up the road to Horse Camp Hut, then ski along the western aqueduct track. A big climb initially followed by more gentle terrain higher up.

Follow the Dainer’s ski trail to Dainer’s Gap. If time permits, we can explore Rainbow Lake or the Plains of Heaven.

Skiing in the Broken Dam Hut-Tabletop Mountain area, extending the tour on Sat 23 July to Elaine Mine. Snow camping around Broken Dam and exploring possibly as far as Happy Jacks Plain area.

Perisher XC Ski Centre: following the morning’s Come and Try lesson, we will have some beginner and intermediate ski tours around the Perisher XC trails.

Will start at Mt Selwyn resort and ski across the plateau to the Tabletop Fire Trail, before continuing south past the burnt remains of Four Mile Hut to the site of Elaine Mine, which contains an old steam engine and other gold mining artifacts.

An easy ski tour starting exploring the area close to Mt Selwyn resort. This trip has fairly easy skiing terrain, good views of the northern part of the park, and plenty of burnt trees!

We will run a Ski De Masc while the women are on the ski De Femme. Honing ski skills for beginners and intermediate tour.

A ski tour starting from Kiandra and heading south to Commissioner’s Gully, a long valley to the east of Mt Selwyn.

From Guthega, head up the Snowy River valley and cross the swing bridge towards Mt Twynam and climb to the summit.  We may do some ski runs in the region, and eventually head down to Blue Lake and back down the Snowy River Valley to Guthega. Skills Intermediate – Advanced Terrain Hilly and Steep Distance Long

A mid-week ski on the Perisher XC trails using track skis. Will leave the packs at the Nordic Shelter and travel light, returning to the shelter for morning tea and lunch before heading out again.

Ski up Rock Creek to Porcupine Rocks.

Seve de Campo, an Olympic Skier from the Beijing Winter Olympics, will be talking about his cross-country racing career.

This would be a good tour for advancing beginners who have already built up some xc skills and now want to further develop them. The distance and time on the snow will depend on those attending.

Starting from the Snowy Mountains Highway, follow a fire trail up to the top of Tantangara Mountain.
We should get to Harvey’s Hut for lunch. Maybe get to the top. It is a guaranteed long, easy run down back to the cars after we turn around.

Our first overnight snow camping trip for the season. About 10 km each day on the rolling Kiandra country.

A tour in the northern end of the park away from the long weekend crowds at Perisher. This ski tour near Mt Selwyn will start at the Three Mile Dam carpark and go around the Goldseekers Trail and Three Mile Dam area.

Will do an overnight camp at Geehi Flats and walk to the various huts in the area.

Drive along Long Plain to Cave Creek / Blue Waterholes. Will camp for two nights by the creek a short distance from the public camping area and do day walks around the area. Some may be interested in poking into the many caves in the area or doing a bit of trout fishing. Trip postponed till the first week of April, pending better weather.

A day walk to the top of Kalkite Mountain which overlooks Lake Jindabyne.

An overnight camp on the Abbotts Range, which provides another eagles view over the upper Murray country and a ‘top of the world’ camping experience, and is the place to go to escape the sweltering summer heat. The second half of January is the preferred time for this trip.

Will start from Corin Dam and climb the trail up Stockyard Spur to Pryors Hut and on to Mt Gingera. A steep trail with many steps and about 900m in elevation gain. Approx 21km return.

A walk in the sub-alpine or alpine areas to see the alpine plants in flower,. If the forecast is for a gold plated day i’m suggesting the Guthrie traverse – Charlotte Pass to Guthega with a car swap.  If its forecast a grey day then the alternative destination will be Cascade Hut via the Cascades fire trail.

Will catch the chairlift to the top of Thredbo and head along the metal walkway towards Mt Kosciuszko, enjoying the views and skiing the remaining drifts.

From Charlotte’s pass to Foreman’s Crossing to Kunama Cirque & Hut (ruin), then to Club Lake and back to Charlotte’s Pass

Two nights of “snow” camping (but we will be aiming to find a pleasant grassy patch) and two days of skiing, plus an exit ski/walk on Thu. On Tues, we will ski/walk from Charlotte Pass to the Snowy Bridge/Seaman’s Hut/Upper Snowy River area, where we will set up camp. We will then make excursions out from that site, e.g. Mt Kosciuszko, Ramsheads, Townsend/Abbott Ridge. Some participants intend to travel down on Mon afternoon and car-camp at Island Bend; additional participants could also consider this.

Will start at Charlotte Pass, cross the Snowy River and head up onto the Main Range to Carruthers Peak for spectacular views of the surrounding area. May also go to Blue Lake. Some walking will likely be involved to reach the snow.

Head for Watson’s Crags, out from Charlotte’s Pass. Cross the Snowy River at Foreman’s Crossing, roughly follow the Main Range Walking Track over to Soil Conservation Creek before crossing over the crest of the Main Range and onto the spur of Watson’s Crags. Return likely down the glacial valley into Blue Lake or down the side of Carruther’s.

This is intended for those who would like to do the Watsons Crags tour on Thursday but would also like to travel down to the Snowies on Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon we would look to do a short ski tour, such as Mt Stilwell and Kangaroo Ridge from Charlotte Pass or, alternatively, a short bushwalk.

A 3 day, base camp trip for intermediate level skiers. It would be suitable for people who do not want to carry an overnight pack for long distances. The aim is to include an introduction to snow camping, although it would be good to have a few experienced snow campers to share their skills. Destination will depend on snow and weather conditions.

Will start from Guthega and head up the Snowy River valley to Illawong Lodge, before continuing to Spencers Creek and hopefully across the new suspension bridge to explore the slopes of Mt Guthrie.

Ian Turland will provide a presentation on “BACK-COUNTRY SKIING IN NEW ZEALAND”. This will feature skiing on the Pisa and Two Thumb Ranges in the South Island.

Guthega to Illawong / Snowy Suspension Bridge to Pounds Creek. Day ski around Pounds Creek / Mt Anton / Mt Anderson, with much rubbish telemarking and giggling. Return via outward route.

An easy tour starting at Smiggins and exploring the surrounding area, which could include along the Link Road, the plateau containing the old XC trails, the slopes of Mt Piper, or down to Pipers Creek Hut.

The virtual Hoppet 2021 – Do It Your Way on the Perisher Nordic trails.
Join fellow club members on the Perisher trails and complete your chosen distance of 42, 21 or 7km.

Ian Turland will present on a 2017 trip to New Zealand, which included participation in a guided training course, some resort skiing and backcountry skiing in the Pisa Range and Two Thumbs Range.

A ski along the Upper Thredbo (Crackenback) River, as far as the Chimneys and perhaps Teddy’s Hut as the day allows.

For something a bit different, those interested in trying out showshoeing, we are running an exploration up Rocky Creek from Perisher Village.

Start off at the Perisher Nordic centre, ski past the Porcupine and follow the pole line down to the Betts Creek valley to explore the Trapyard Creek trail. Depending on the group we may visit Charlotte Pass before returning to Perisher via the Kosciuszko Road.

A nice challenging day tour starting from Dead Horse Gap, bagging some Ramshead Peaks, and hopefully making it as far as Kosi South Face or Leatherbarrel Creek.

2.5, 7.5, 15 & 30km Freestyle races held around the Perisher trails, starting at 9:30am.

Part of the XC Week at Perisher activities, the Mystery Coffee Tour leaves the Nordic Shelter at 9.45 am. A guide is provided which will take you on a tour over some wonderful skiing terrain. A separate club tour will occur after the Coffee Tour, departing from the mystery location.

A 7.5km handicap race around the Perisher trails, stating at 11am.

Here is a trip with a difference!  Moon rise is at 4.15 pm so the moon will be high by the time it gets dark.   The tour will start, weather permitting, at 6.30 pm from the Nordic Shelter and go around the 5 km loop.

Part of the Perisher XC Week, this is the biggest race of the week and has a long history of over 45 years, starting at Perisher and finishing at Charlotte’s Pass.

Ralph Gailis will present a “traditional” slide night (yes, real, physical slides!) on his year living in Alberta in 2002. The focus will be on skiing, though some other of Canada’s natural wonders will also be thrown in.

A tour for those staying down for Perisher XC week or anyone else who wants to come along. May explore the Perisher trails or the edge of the plateau overlooking the Crackenback Valley. Meet at the Perisher Nordic Shelter at 9:30am.

A 5km race for all standards around the Perisher Trails, starting at 10:30am. Classic and Freestyle.

Starting at Perisher, the tour will explore the slopes and plateau of Mt Piper. Good views of the Main Range and some good slopes to practice on.

An easy tour around the frozen lake at Three Mile Dam, near Mt Selwyn. The terrain is mostly flat or rolling and suitable for beginners.

XC Ski Week is a week for all XC enthusiasts whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned racer or a recreational skier. Lots of races and fun events.

A 10am start from Dainers Gap. The tour will follow the pole line along Thompsons Plain and Prussian Plain towards Perisher.

A ski tour to some of the huts on Long Plain, starting at Rules Point.

Will start at Smiggins and explore the surrounding area, which could include along the Link Road, the plateau containing the old XC trails, the slopes of Mt Piper, or down to Pipers Creek Hut. (Or, if there are good snowfalls at lower levels this weekend then the trip destination could be changed to the Kiandra area (ie – Gooandra Homestead). or the Rainbow Lake area).

We have put up with cold, wet weather in Canberra for the last few days, so let us go and find some snow to ski on. We’ll probably start in Perisher, hit the trails and head to somewhere picturesque. Pretty Point or Porcupines would both be pretty good.

Jono Lineen will talk about his recent book “Perfect Motion”, in which he investigates important benefits conferred by walking, including with regard to creativity, learning and resilience. Jono, an experienced cross-country skier, suggests that the principles he discusses in his book can also apply to cross-country skiing.

Kunama Lodge was destroyed by an avalanche in 1956, killing one person. Apparently there are still ruins, as a KHA link photo shows, but I have never seen them. So the intent of this trip is to ski up to the slopes of Mt Lee and find them. If there is time, we could ski further, depending on the capability of the group. It’s only a few kms up to Mt Lee. However, we do have to wade across the Snowy River, (provided its safe to do so).
Meet at Charlotte Pass ready to leave by 9:30am.

The Committee is still working on the Annual October Lodge Weekend.
It might be held on the weekend of Saturday & Sunday, 10 & 11 October, or Saturday & Sunday, 17 & 18 October, or not at all.

Start from Charlotte Pass, walk up the Summit Road to Snowy Bridge then camp on the grass nearby, close to the Snowy River below Seamans Hut. Spend the weekend exploring the surrounding area, probably around Mt Townsend and Wilkinsons Valley.

Hunting for snow. Most likely leaving from Thredbo. Possibly heading down Leather Barrel Creek.
Intermediate, Rolling – Hilly & Steep, Medium

2020 Annual General Meeting. Discuss where the Club has been and where it will go.

Start from Dead Horse Gap and head up to the central Ramshead Range area. Bag the Ramshead and one or two other peaks nearby. Ski down to Lake Cootapatamba, and depending on time available, ski up and down Kosi South Face, or else head down to Leatherbarrel Creek. Return back the same route to Dead Horse Gap.

Will start at Munyang Power Station and head up the road to Horse Camp Hut. Will camp or stay in the hut and spend the next two days exploring the surrounding area – Tin Hut, Schlink Hut, Rolling Grounds etc.

Will start from Perisher. The preference is to go to The Paralyser and back, however if the visibility and weather were not conducive then the tour will likely be along the Kosciusko road to the village trail and thence to Charlotte Pass. Return would be via the nordic trail over Johnnies Plain and Wheatley Gap.

This tour will re-create the glory days of the Kosciuszko Tour ski race by following the original route from Thredbo to Perisher.

Will start at Guthega, cross the dam wall and climb past Guthega Trig out to Consett Stephens Pass and on to Tate West Ridge, which provides great views of the Main Range and Geehi Valley.

CCCSC members are welcome to join XC ski tours that are being run for the Australian Ski Club at Guthega from Monday 31 August to Friday 4 September inclusive and Monday 7 September to Friday 11 September. Tours will depend on ability levels, weather and snow conditions. Tours are always leaving Guthega and have a reputation for good humour and finding something interesting to do.

We will head out from Guthega. Our destination depends on the snow. Pounds Creek is one possible destination.

Will start from Perisher and head somewhere interesting, depending on the snow conditions. Possible destinations could be Johnnies Plain or Trapyard Creek.

Worldloppet 2020: Alan Levy & David Drohan will talk about their trip earlier this year skiing in the Dolomites and participating in Worldloppet ski races in Europe.

It looks like there might be some good weather days next week, as well as good snow cover following recent snowfalls. If anyone is interested in doing tours next week (the current intention is to focus on day-tours at the intermediate and/or advanced levels) on Wednesday 26th, Thursday 27th and/or Friday 28th August, please contact the tour leader.

Cross Guthega River near the northern end of the Pondage, up to Tate East Ridge and then to Mt Anderson. Return down Pounds Creek to the Illawong Lodge bridge at via Pounds Creek and then back to Guthega.

Ski the Kangaroo Hoppet 2020 … Do It Your Way with other Club members (and others) on the day of the Hoppet by skiing your preferred distance around the Perisher Trails.

Depending on the weather and snow, going up either Guthega Creek or the Snowy River. Trying to build in some kind of circuit or else look for a spot where we can have a short play of some downhill techniques. Participants need to have the skills and gear to cope with any icy traverses and downhill sections.

What’s involved in climbing a 6000m peak in Ecuador and other adventures, by Dave Drohan.
Climbing some of the high peaks in Ecuador are technically easy, yet only about half of those who try, succeed in reaching the summit. I did succeed in summiting two of those volcanoes in 2019. My high point was 6278m. Come along to discover the travels of the small team I was involved with, as well as the amazing experience of watching a solar eclipse in Chile, walking an ancient Inca trail and skiing over the equator.

Will start at Dainers Gap and ski to Rainbow Lake and out to the edge of the plateau overlooking Lake Jindabyne.

Guthega to Old Farm Creek up to the open areas on the Perisher Range. From there, we will make our way to The Paralyser, on towards the end of the ridge and then to Spencers Creek. If there is sufficient snow, we’ll ski along the eastern side of Spencers Creek to the Snowy River and then follow the southern side of the Snowy back to Guthega. Otherwise, we will return to Guthega along our outward route.
Intermediate-Advanced Rolling-Hilly Long

Will start from the Perisher Nordic Shelter and go around the Perisher Trails and explore the edge of the plateau overlooking the Crackenback Valley.

An easy trip starting from Perisher. Suitable for beginners. Will explore the Perisher Trails and surrounding area.

Ian Turland and Dave Drohan will provide a presentation on their 2018 ski trip in Norway and Sweden, where they explored a number of national parks.

Starting from Perisher Valley, we will head out to where the snow is good. At the time of posting, Rock Creek is looking pretty good.

If the snow conditions look good at Dainers Gap, will ski to Rainbow Lake and beyond or to Pretty Point, otherwise the tour will start at Perisher and head out from there.
