Mystery Tour out of the Selwyn/Kiandra area
Mt Selwyn Resort, Mt Selwyn NSW |
At this stage the forecast for Sunday is for snowy conditions so I am thinking of a tour out to Broken Dam Hut or possibly somewhere north of Kiandra (eg Gooandra Hut or Tantangara Hut) if there is sufficient snow at lower altitudes. I will aim to do a small circuit but it might end up being a there and back tour. The tour will be up to 20km or so of undulating terrain and suiting skiers with intermediate skills. It’s not a beginners trip. I can take anyone from Kalkite wanting to join my tour. I’ll be heading home to Canberra on Sunday night. Intermediate skills Rolling terrain Medium distance |
Tue, 30 Jul 2024 - Wed, 31 Jul 2024 All Day |
Mid-week tours – starting at Perisher and/or Dead Horse Gap
Perisher Nordic Centre, Perisher Valley NSW |
Ski on either day or both days. We will go where the snow looks good. The tempo will be pretty relaxed and ambitions will be tailored to the skill level of the group – that said, participants should not be beginners or almost-beginners. Possible areas for skiing include: Johnnies Plain (maybe Trapyard Creek) from Perisher; Thredbo River corridor from Dead Horse Gap; the Betts Creek-lower Paralyser area from Perisher. Accommodation is available at Kalkite ($60/night). Participants could travel down for whichever tour they are doing early on the day of the tour or travel to Kalkite the previous afternoon/evening. The leader intends to stay at Kalkite Tuesday night and probably also Monday night. Basic-Intermediate (but not too ‘basic’)s Rolling – perhaps onto medium-gradient slopes Medium distance |
