The Sentinel (overnight camp)
Charlotte’s Pass, Charlotte Pass NSW

Will start at Charlotte Pass and follow the walking track past Blue Lake out to The Sentinel to set up camp. There is a great sheltered campsite and amazing views of the steep western side of the Main Range.

Sat, 15 Feb 2025 - Sun, 16 Feb 2025
All Day
Snowy Plains Rambles

This is a repeat of last year’s trip to the lodge at Snowy Vale. The property lies adjacent to the Jagungal Wilderness and offers walking in the cooler sub-alpine areas sometimes frequented by cross-country skiers in a good winter. Members will be free to plan their own day trips into the Park or around the property but I hope to do a day trip to Spencers Peak, the midway point between Kiandra and Guthega for those doing the crossing in winter. There are two creek crossings that could prove a problem for vehicles in the event of heavy rain.

Sat, 8 Mar 2025 - Mon, 10 Mar 2025
All Day
Blue Mountains walks (Canberra Day Long Weekend)

A long weekend of day walks in the Blue Mountains. There are heaps of options of different lengths and degrees of up and down to suit people’s interests. Further details will be circulated in early February. People wanting a longer trip, or an alternative, may be interested in continuing after the weekend to explore the Wollemi area likely camping at Ganguddy-Dunns Swamp.

Cave Creek - Coolamon Plains (overnight camp)

This is a truly spectacular limestone gorge area quite unlike most of the National Park. A back country camp is proposed downstream of the public camping area. This will necessitate wading the river with packs but several more crossings will be necessary to fully appreciate the gorge and reach its lower waterfall. So suitable footwear would be required. The adjacent Coolamon Plains area is a delightful sub alpine area studded with limestone caves (and previously horses) and some of the old stockman’s huts remain.
