Taryn Dickens, Paralympics Hopeful
Topic: | A Low-Vision Athlete’s Paralympics Campaign |

Speaker: | Taryn Dickens |
Notes: |
June this year will be Taryn’s 3 year anniversary since she first tried cross-country skiing. But if it wasn’t for being told at 36 that she will be completely blind one day, she probably never would have tried it.
From being an avid hiker chasing sunrises on mountain peaks, ice climbing with Allie Pepper and a great carpark chat with Andrew Lock, to long distance cycling and eventually the thrill of track cycling with a gold medal at Masters Nationals the outdoors and being an athlete has always been in Taryn’s character.
Taryn thinks that the path her life has taken is such a gift for so many reasons.
Without the twists and turns she would not have her sights set on the 2026 Winter Paralympics as the first Australian Female to compete in Para Cross Country and Biathlon.
As exciting as the Paralympic goals are she hope that she can share with others that anything is possible and you are never too old to try something new.
