Spring in the Mountains (Day Walk – Charlotte Pass to Guthega, or Cascade Hut)

A walk in the sub-alpine or alpine areas to see the alpine plants in flower,. If the forecast is for a gold plated day i’m suggesting the Guthrie traverse – Charlotte Pass to Guthega with a car swap.  If its forecast a grey day then the alternative destination will be Cascade Hut via the Cascades fire trail.

The sub alpine plants flower earlier than the much vaunted alpine varieties but are no less spectacular. The early pea flowers are pretty well finished but the purple Hovea is putting on quite a show and the  perfumed Bossiaea  is just starting to  flower.

An easier walk will be conducted on the previous day.
